Multi-instrumentalist Michael Uhrich has been on the Florida music scene since 1987 and has been performing live since 1982. He has performed saxophone, flute, and keyboards, and as a vocalist in groups ranging in size from 17 piece jazz orchestras, symphonic orchestras, 10 piece rock and soul groups, trios, duos and for the past 6 years has performed as a single act. He has been fortunate enough to open for name acts such as Bruce Hornsby and the Range, Alan Jackson, Roberta Flack, and twice for Alabama. In addition to being the go-to side guy, Michael is also a accomplished solo artist and music producer/engineer. Owning and operating his own recording studio, Rivers East Recording and Media Development Studio,” for 12 years in the Palm Beach Florida, Michael produced and created music for a wide variety of acts including writing with famed singer and dancer, Ben Vareen. Included in his many productions, is his own solo CD, Method of the River. His voice, as well as his music performance, is honest and refined and he pays particular attention to live sonic quality. Michael is equally comfortable in a jazz pop groove laid down by Steely Dan as he is diggin’ deep in a Bill Withers soul song. Right after that, you might find him inside a thoughtful James Taylor song and then a segue into an original version of a Beatles tune. In the same evening, he can call on many jazz standards and contemporary songs. His song list contains many of the hits of the past half century, and he has no trouble bringing original arrangements of them to the table. Most of his performance engagements have been long term, the last being a five year, five night-a-week run at an 50 table upscale restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale overlooking the ocean. Dependable as a Steve Gadd back beat, Michael enjoys building a relationship with patrons(even those whose visit seasonally) that keep them returning for years.
